Our Rotary Club is proud to sponsor the Literacy Award at Ryerson University's School of Early Childhood Studies in the Faculty of Community Services. The scholarship is awarded to one undergraduate student in the School of Early Childhood Studies, in the full-time or part-time program, who has demonstrated academic excellence and leadership in promoting literacy in the community.

With a value of up to $1000, the Rotary Club of York Literacy Award supports young scholars who have exemplified the values of Rotary.

Applicants are asked how they demonstrate the Rotary Club’s adopted philosophy of the Four-Way Test, promoting high ethical standards in their professional lives. It asks the following four questions: Of the things we think, say or do: - Is it the TRUTH? - Is it FAIR to all concerned? - Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? - Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Rotary Club of York is thankful for this opportunity to support such bright young leaders. The selection committee received many applications from qualified students. Directors James Lin and Joe Luk were happy to speak with the award recipient before the presentation. The Club looks forward to welcoming Ms. Cao to an RCOY meeting next year to speak about her studies.
